Book Review and Giveaway- DAILY RAW by Nadia Petrova
I’m so excited to write a book review for my friend Nadia Petrova at Nature Insider! If you haven’t ever popped over to Nadia’s site before, I would urge you to go now! There are thousands of blogs out there and it isn’t possible to follow them all, but I highly recommend her site. It stands out from the crowd. Her blog is not only gorgeous to look at, she’s also put in a lot of love and time into each and every recipe and it truly shows. She’s a holistic nutritionist so you know you’re getting a wealth of healthful tips and information on her site and she also has an eye for photography. Her photographs are beautifully styled, but retain the raw beauty of the foods she blogs about.
I stumbled onto her site many months ago and now I’m a regular reader. Whenever I’m looking for some inspiration to eat healthy or inspiration for creating a beautiful and unique dish – I know I can get a few ideas from Nadia’s site. She recently wrote her own e-book (isn’t that amazing?) and I had a chance to read it cover to cover a few weeks ago. If you’re interested in incorporating raw and natural ingredients into your lifestyle – definitely check out her book ’DAILY RAW’.

Snack time- CheeCha Puffs- Review and GIVEAWAY!
As you know, I’m always looking for healthier alternatives to popular foods. Remember my cherry choco-coco trufffles which were a healthy alternative to the usual chocolate truffles made with cream? Or what about the watermelon granita that was made without added sugar? Eating healthy doesn’t need to mean cutting down completely on the things you love, it just means you have to become more creative and adventurous with your food. So what do you reach for when you’re craving an afternoon snack? If it’s the usual baked potato chips or fried snacks – it’s time for a change. Enter CheeCha Puffs!
It’s here! Holiday Issue of Flavour Fiesta Magazine
Hello my lovely readers! I am thrilled to make an exciting announcement to you all today. The holiday issue of Flavour Fiesta Magazine is finally here!
As you may (or may not) know, I’ve been working on the issue for the past few weeks and was trying to wrap up all the finishing touches this week. It’s taken a while, but it’s all worth it! I really enjoyed working on the last issue, but this one is truly close to my heart. I adore the festivity of the holiday season and the joy that comes with it, and I’ve tried to capture that in this issue.
The holidays are the perfect opportunity to take a break from the daily grind. For most people that usually means enjoying good food in great company. I’ve tried to capture the spirit of the season with a number of recipes for entertaining, sweet treats and more. You’ll also find ideas for creative gifts including homemade dessert teas and healthy holiday squares. Are you feeling a little stressed about all the entertaining you have to do this season? Turn to page 57 for a few of my favourite tips.
Here’s a peek of the front cover.
I really hope you enjoy this magazine and I would love to hear from you. What did you like? What do you want to see more of? I look forward to all your suggestions and comments.
To access the magazine, you can either click on the image below or access the magazine through this link. If you like what you see, “like” us on Facebook/Twitter and help spread the word!

Book Review- You Can Trust a Skinny Cook
I’m so excited to write my first cookbook review! I have to admit that I own quite a few cookbooks, but I never really follow the recipes – the books are there for inspiration. I wanted to add a new cookbook to my already burgeoning collection, so I decided to drop by the local bookstore and check out what they had in store. Shopping online is great, but there’s nothing like sitting down and perusing through a stack of books in the store! Plus, I love that “new book scent”. Don’t you?
I probably skimmed through a dozen books, before I spotted Allison Fishman’s You can Trust a Skinny Cook. Hmm..interesting title, sounds like it’s worth a read. The first thing that caught my attention was the colour scheme of the book – orange and yellow – very fresh and inviting. And Allison’s smile on the front cover coaxed me into flipping through the book. I’m so glad I did! This book is one of the best I’ve seen in a while, it’s got a great variety of recipes, is easy to read and has countless kitchen tips and tricks.

Slicing strawberries made easy…
Who doesn’t love eating strawberries? They’re sweet with a little hint of sour which makes them perfect for dessert and even salads. I could eat them all day! I enjoy eating them whole (that’s because my knife skills need a lot of work), but sometimes you just need to slice them to make them easier to eat. For most people, slicing is a breeze. But, for people like me, it was a chore until now. I found this nifty gadget that makes slicing quick and easy!
Pretty macarons from Lemon Tree Patisserie
Macarons are beautiful desserts, but it’s so hard to find quality macarons that actually taste as good as they look. I found these beauties at the St.Lawrence Market in Toronto and loved them so much, I decided to create a new section on my blog to review great products. Products like this deserve some attention!
For those of you who are not familiar with Toronto’s St.Lawrence market, it is a haven for foodies. The market has everything from organic meats to fresh farm produce and even hard- to-pronounce ethnic spices. If you drop by the lower level at the market, you’ll find the Lemon Tree Patisserie booth every Saturday next to the Lively Life store. They have a rotating selection of macarons. My friend Flora and I had a hard time choosing the flavours – so we just bought them all!
Good to know: Macarons are naturally gluten-free, so they are a great dessert alternative for those with gluten allergies/intolerance!
