I’m so excited to write a book review for my friend Nadia Petrova at Nature Insider! If you haven’t ever popped over to Nadia’s site before, I would urge you to go now! There are thousands of blogs out there and it isn’t possible to follow them all, but I highly recommend her site. It stands out from the crowd.  Her blog is not only gorgeous to look at, she’s also put in a lot of love and time into each and every recipe and it truly shows. She’s a holistic nutritionist so you know you’re getting a wealth of healthful tips and information on her site and she also has an eye for photography. Her photographs are beautifully styled, but retain the raw beauty of the foods she blogs about.

I stumbled onto her site many months ago and now I’m a regular reader. Whenever I’m looking for some inspiration to eat healthy or inspiration for creating a beautiful and unique dish – I know I can get a few ideas from Nadia’s site. She recently wrote her own e-book (isn’t that amazing?) and I had a chance to read it cover to cover a few weeks ago. If you’re interested in incorporating raw and natural ingredients into your lifestyle – definitely check out her book ’DAILY RAW’.

As you know, I’m always looking for healthier alternatives to popular foods. Remember my cherry choco-coco trufffles which were a healthy alternative to the usual chocolate truffles made with cream? Or what about the watermelon granita that was made without added sugar? Eating healthy doesn’t need to mean cutting down completely on the things you love, it just means you have to become more creative and adventurous with your food.  So what do you reach for when you’re craving an afternoon snack? If it’s the usual baked potato chips or fried snacks – it’s time for a change. Enter CheeCha Puffs!

Who doesn’t love eating strawberries? They’re sweet with a little hint of sour which makes them perfect for dessert and even salads. I could eat them all day! I enjoy eating them whole (that’s because my knife skills need a lot of work), but sometimes you just need to slice them to make them easier to eat. For most people, slicing is a breeze.  But, for people like me, it was a chore until now. I found this nifty gadget that makes slicing quick and easy!

Pretty macarons from Lemon Tree Patisserie

Macarons are beautiful desserts, but it’s so hard to find quality macarons that actually taste as good as they look. I found these beauties at the St.Lawrence Market in Toronto and loved them so much, I decided to create a new section on my blog to review great products. Products like this deserve some attention!

For those of you who are not familiar with Toronto’s St.Lawrence market, it is a haven for foodies. The market has everything from organic meats to fresh farm produce and even hard- to-pronounce ethnic spices. If you drop by the lower level at the market, you’ll find the Lemon Tree Patisserie booth every Saturday next to the Lively Life store.  They have a rotating selection of macarons.  My friend Flora and I had a hard time choosing the flavours – so we just bought them all!

Good to know: Macarons are naturally gluten-free, so they are a great dessert alternative for those with gluten allergies/intolerance!
