Banana coco-chai smoothie
Hello hello! What plans do you have for the weekend? I’m working on the magazine this weekend (trying to finish the design), so I can start planning my photo shoots next week. Busy times ahead… So I wanted to make something quick and easy to start my day on the right foot. Here’s an anti-oxidant packed smoothie with an Indian twist. It’s got chai tea (who doesn’t love that!), cocoa powder for more anti-oxidants, chia seeds for fibre, probiotic yogurt, raw honey and my favourite ingredient – frozen bananas. Fibre…check! Fruit..check! Protein…check! And the taste…delicious!
Quinoa Pudding with strawberries, pomegranate and pistachios
Today’s Beauty Eats recipe is a layered quinoa pudding with strawberries, a pomegranate-cardamom reduction and a generous sprinkle of pistachios. How’s that for a healthy Valentine’s treat?
……………………………………………………
I’ve had a bag of pistachios and a bottle of pomegranate juice sitting in my kitchen for quite some time, but it wasn’t until Connie (from Chronicles of a Beauty Nerd) gave me some inspiration that I came up with this pudding. It’s a scrumptious way to start your morning, especially if you’re like me and need a little sweetness to start your day. Or it can be a great accompaniment to a healthy dinner. You pick!
Beauty Eats- Berry-banana smoothie with goji berries
There’s nothing better than a delicious smoothie to start the day. It’s quick, easy and chock full of nutrition if you choose the right ingredients. I usually have a strawberry-banana smoothie on the days I don’t have time to really sit down and eat. Isn’t it so much easier just to drink your breakfast when you’re struggling to make it out the door in time? The problem with smoothies is that they can get a little boring after a while. So to keep things fresh and interesting, why not try some unusual ingredients?
Tropical sunshine smoothie
Good morning! After a weekend of indulgence, the best thing to have for breakfast is something light and “guilt-free”. This smoothie captures tropical sunshine in a glass and is sure to lift your spirits for the week ahead. To add a twist to the smoothie, I added a hint of ginger for some zing and mint for a refreshing flavour.
When you’re in a rush to get out the door, making a smoothie is probably the easiest way to get some nutrition in a glass. This smoothie has a serving and half of fruits and a full serving of dairy. I doubt I’d be able to have that if I actually had to sit down and eat breakfast. That’s why I don’t think I could live without my trusty Magic Bullet!
Banana bread with dates!
So what do you do when you have a bunch of extra ripe bananas lying on your counter-top? Banana bread! But you know me, the recipe has got to have a twist. This is a yummy banana bread with dates that is surprisingly healthy too!
I always end up buying too many bananas! After a few days, as they turn darker and darker, I wonder why I bought so many in the first place. Will I ever learn?
Milkshakes are a great way to use ripe bananas, but the best way in my opinion is to make banana bread. It’s something that will satisfy your sweet tooth at any time of the day, whether it’s dessert after dinner or breakfast with a glass of milk.
