Hello hello! What plans do you have for the weekend? I’m working on the magazine this weekend (trying to finish the design), so I can start planning my photo shoots next week. Busy times ahead… So I wanted to make something quick and easy to start my day on the right foot. Here’s an anti-oxidant packed smoothie with an Indian twist. It’s got chai tea (who doesn’t love that!), cocoa powder for more anti-oxidants, chia seeds for fibre, probiotic yogurt, raw honey and my favourite ingredient – frozen bananas. Fibre…check! Fruit..check! Protein…check! And the taste…delicious!

Today’s Beauty Eats recipe is for all those ladies that need a BREAK. We’ve done a number of skin-friendly recipes on this series, but to make things interesting, today we’re making a DIY mask. So ladies, kick back and take some “me” time this week…

……………………………………………………

Connie (from Chronicles of a Beauty Nerd) and I have been busy preparing for our first Beauty Eats live event for the last few days. We’re really excited about it and hope to see a few of you there! And for those of you who can’t make it, we are going to try posting a video soon after. Now with all the preparation, I’ve been a little lax with my regular skincare routine. So, I wanted to take some time out today and just relax. One of my favourite ways to pamper myself at home is with a DIY face mask.  But, this isn’t just any face mask. It’s rich, it’s luxurious and it’s oh so chocolatey…and best of all, you can eat it too! Well…..only if you really want to…

Tuna cakes made with Creole flavours

Today’s Beauty Eats recipe is about healthy food that’s also bursting with flavour. If you’re a new reader, you might be wondering what the Beauty Eats series is all about. The image on the left sums it up perfectly – it’s all about eating skin-friendly ingredients in delicious ways. You can view more recipes from this series here.

You know those days when you have no idea what to make for lunch or dinner because you don’t have enough ingredients at home? Like the day before you end up going to the grocery store? Well, today was one of those days for me. I was planning on heading out to the market, but the weather had other plans. So, there I was staring at my pantry and wondering what I could do with a few cans of tuna and a head of lettuce in the fridge. And then it dawned upon me – tuna cakes! Mini tuna cakes to be precise…since they are definitely cuter! Read on for the recipe and see what Connie from the Beauty Nerd has to say about this dish.

Beauty Eats- Grilled nectarine tart with orange-vanilla sauce

My friend Connie from “The Beauty Nerd” and I started a new series called “Beauty Eats” a few months ago. This week we have an easy nectarine tart. If you missed the earlier posts, you can find them in the “Discover” menu under “Food and Beauty”.

I adore fruit tarts – succulent fruit with creamy custard and flaky pastry is the perfect combination.  To change things up a bit, try these tarts with grilled nectarines. It’s the perfect dessert for a backyard BBQ since it doesn’t take long to put together. The best part is this recipe is a low fat version of the usual fruit tart. I’ve replaced the creamy custard with a deliciously light yogurt “cream”. Yum!

Beauty Eats- Chocolate Yogurt Parfait with Strawberries

Have you ever thought about how food and beauty are linked? We have all heard our mothers tell us that we are what we eat, but have you ever eaten specific foods to improve your skin’s health?  This new series called “Beauty Eats” will explore foods rich in antioxidants, omega-3 fatty acids and probiotics that will leave you with a healthy radiance that is bound to get some attention!

My friend Connie and I came up with the idea of writing a series on “Beauty Eats” recently. She has an absolutely gorgeous blog (www.thebeautynerd.com) which has great tidbits about beauty things and inspirations.  Her approach to beauty is to start from within with a healthy diet.  I couldn’t agree more!  In the first of the series, we will start with a great breakfast item that’s both pretty to look at and will get your skin glowing!
